Overall Goals & Session Activity

Engagement & Lesson Format

Transcend Learning ensures lessons are always fun and engaging for students- with lots of activities and games that

get students up from the table and moving around! The lesson follows the following format:

  • Learning Intention explained, followed by Intense focus on the core skill/s needed for lesson success and achievement

  • Application of core skill/s needed through games

  • Independent goal monitoring and student accountability- through rigorous student training

  • Student reflection and feedback demonstrating understanding of core skill/s

  • Immediate observational data collected to inform next lesson’s content and focus

  • Your child and I will be working on the following learning goals + aligning to the school’s term planner requirements if desired.

Transcend Learning Program for Primary School Students:

Literacy

Reading

For reading comprehension and following the CARS program, your child and I will work on the following

comprehension goals and strategies to use when reading:

  • Identifying The Main Idea

  • Recalling Facts and Details

  • Summarising

  • Predicting

  • Inferring

  • Sequencing Events

  • Recognising Cause and Effect

  • Comparing and Contrasting

For decoding in reading and for spelling, Transcend Learning will draw from a range of programs i.e. Sound Waves /

MSL and Orton and Gillingham to target your child’s spelling by:

  • Isolating each sound and matching letter patterns to the appropriate sound focus - in a nutshell: phonics.

Writing

For writing and handwriting, Transcend Learning uses an approach called VCOP which looks at the ingredients

needed to create wonderful writing like:

  • Parts of speech

  • Connectives

  • Openers

  • Punctuation

  • Figurative Language

Your child and I will also look at the structure of each genre and fine tune our paragraph writing skills.

Numeracy

Maths

For maths, Transcend Learning has designed, developed and implemented its own unique program- specialising in the use of:

  • Efficient and accurate strategies to solve maths problems, starting with multiplication and division and building from there.

  • TL designed

  • AGP

Transcend Learning's Evidence Based Educational Program:

Transcend Learning is developing its own educational program (specifically in the area of maths, but not limited to) and it's in the process of becoming evidence based in the future.

Behavioural Therapies & Wellbeing

Transcend Learning will align and work alongside the school to support any successful behavioural strategies that

are currently in place for your child at school and/or at home. Transcend Learning will also support your child with

the following additional behavioural strategies/therapies if required:

  • regulating behaviour

  • de escalation

  • positive praise + improved self efficacy

  • reward charts/timers/traffic lights

  • roles of responsibility to promote positive behaviours

  • overtalking

  • differentiated learning to maximise student engagement and success

Requirements from the School

To help your child achieve their goals, Transcend Learning aims to align the work done in our sessions with the work

they are already doing at school. If the classroom teacher is happy to provide Transcend Learning with the following,

your child’s home learning and school learning can be linked together for the year:

  1. A copy of your child’s most current report and their teacher's email

  2. Any ILPs and Behaviour Management / Safety Plans

  3. Your child's literacy and numeracy goals, as well as any other goals / focus the teacher thinks would be beneficial for us to cover in our sessions

  4. An outline of your term planner so I know what topics your child is covering at school- i.e week 1-3 for writing is persuasive

  5. Details of any online learning programs you would like me to help out with - i.e. Nessy, Maths Pathways
